Alison Oneil talks viral capsids on Nerdpsyched

Alison O'Neil of the Douglas Lab stopped by Nerdpsyched this past Sunday to discuss her research into viral nano-containers. Topics of discussion ranged from virus basics to in-depth research methods, her recent publications, and whether all this could go "Andromeda Strain" on us. Stream below.

Alison is pursing her PhD in the department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Montana State. Her research regards the manipulation of bacteriophage capsid proteins (the "head" of the virus that typically contains its genetic material) with the objective of filling it with therapeutic agents. She was formerly a researcher at Ligocyte Pharmaceuticals, here in Bozeman, MT.
